Patient Testimonials
I started my relationship with Dr. Brian Schroder in a most unconventional way. Years of neglect had taken a toll on my dental health. As a result, I needed extensive treatment, but, as a college student, was on a limited budget. Being fortunate to live in a city with a great dental school, I began making weekly trips to the school where Dr. Schroder was studying. After becoming personally involved with my case, he asked me to be his patient for his Texas State Boards -- a place where he could showcase his talents, while significantly improving my dental health. Of course, I agreed. And, thus, began my thirty-plus years association with Dr. Schroder and the staff at his practice.
With unparalleled skill and uncompromising discipline and dedication, he systematically corrected my imperfections and, quite literally, changed my life by changing my smile! Dr. Schroder set about correcting the years of abuse my mouth suffered through his insatiable appetite for education, professionally-recognized treatment plans and skill level, and a sustained preventative maintenance plan to ensure my continued dental health. What separates him from other dentists is that he advised and consulted with me. As a result, he provided optimal solutions specifically designed for me and my needs. All these years later, my smile and my teeth are what I consider to be my best asset.
The professionalism and skills of his staff and office personnel reflect the mission of the practice -- treatment of the whole patient, not just the mouth -- and they remove the normal anxiety associated with visiting a dentist.
I have had no other relationship with a health care professional for as long as I have had with Dr. Schroder. I am hopeful it will continue for another thirty years.

For anyone confronted with the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, my story may be helpful in making decisions about your course of treatment. My name is Ivan Estes and I was diagnosed with sleep apnea back in the late 80’s. I used the CPAP machine successfully but at the time I traveled a lot and it was just one more piece of luggage to keep up with. When I was told the UPP(I can’t possibly spell what those letters stand for)surgery gave me a 50-50 chance of being cured, I jumped at the chance. The surgery was extremely painful, I lost my uvula and the surgery didn’t fix anything. Years later I was told the surgery was never more than about 7% successful. Needless to say I was very angry and felt like I had been sold a bill of goods. Anyway, back to the CPAP I went, again with success.
In late 2007, I began taking my CPAP mask off during the night without knowing I’d done it, so I was virtually right back where I had started in the late 80’s. I began researching alternatives and my Pulmonologist told me about the TAP dental appliance. There were two dentists he said I could go to, and since Dr. Schroder was near my house, I chose him. Boy, am I glad I did! Because my Pulmonologist prescribed the device it was deemed a medical procedure, which my insurance company would cover, and not a dental procedure which they wouldn’t cover. Dr. Schroder and his staff fitted me and I began using the device. It was so liberating not to have a hose running all over my bed just to be able to sleep. After using the device for a period of time I developed TMJ, which is a very painful cramping in the jaw area. I was so upset that I might have to quit using the device and go back to my CPAP. I went to see Dr. Schroder, and he said this was no problem at all. He simply added some of the plastic material from which the device is made and built up the bottom piece. My TMJ went away, and now I am sleeping through the night, I do not snore at all (which makes my wife extremely happy) and my obstructive sleep apnea is no longer a problem.
For anyone considering this device, I would highly recommend visiting Dr. Schroder’s practice. He and all his staff treat me more like a friend than a patient, and I really appreciate their concern for my ongoing dental health.
Good luck and happy sleeping,
Ivan Estes
